Cake Walk

Don't ask me what a cake walk is, because even after attending one, I'm still a little fuzzy on the definition. But essentially there are cakes...and you play games...and the winners get cakes. And then we make them share their cake with everyone else. HAHAHAHAHA!!

But yes. That's exactly what happened.

We all met at my friend Michelle's house on the 16th for the event, and it was a sort of piggy-back event on the all-day celebration/fundraiser that her community was having for the owner of their land (an organization that provides health/medical care for old and sick monks).

We made walking tacos! You get bags of chips, and just add the toppings in the bag and mix it up, then eat!

One of my 5 bags of walking tacos

We played 'musical spoons' for this cake (a lot like musical chairs...only we didn't have chairs...)

Eating our cake and ice cream
Live (loud) band and dancing :D

They danced ALL NIGHT hahaha

Money Tree

Trying to hook two of the gold triangles and pull them off the tree to win a prize
As you can see, this looked very safe, with all the long sticks with bent wires on the end, lol
I got two!

PTN Academic Fair

Never mind the fact that it was finals review week - Academic Fair was in full swing for Feb 14 and 15. Following the WORST assembly I think I've ever seen in Thailand, the students had "passports" that they had to fill up with stamps and signatures from different booths, and of course, we had to have one of those booths. Fun fun fun.

Making fruit art

I have NO idea what they were supposed to be

Thought this dance would be really cute, but it ended up being terrible. Totally unpracticed, and maybe not well-thought-out.

All dressed up waiting for their dance number

Just Another Thursday

Though my students were all excited and giddy with their stickers and flowers and candy all day at work...
My adorable students, Baitoey, Toeyhorm, and Chap, with their Valentine's gifts for me :)

...I wasn't about to let another stupid February 14th evening go by sitting at home twiddling my thumbs, so I gathered a dozen of my single girlfriends and headed out for a night of margaritas, Mexican food, and karaoke!

Annika, Rachel, Danielle, and Suzy

Don't remember all their names...(friends of a friend), but the Thai one is my friend Ora :D
Me, Annika and Joan
lol Rachel, and her stickers from the kids at work
Ain't nobody got time for that...
That would be...SEVEN...in the taxi. New record! :D

The Boys

Last month my friend Graham came to visit me (and Cambodia and Korea). He also brought along two friends: Chris, from California, and Lucas, also from California, but currently teaching in Korea. Thailand was the last stop on their trip, and they arrived conveniently(for me) on Teacher's Day, so I was off and able to pick them up at the airport with no trouble.
In the cab from the airport
They wandered the city the next day, then were off to Pattaya and Koh Chang on Friday for a week. Picked them up the following Saturday...
Another taxi home
...and headed to Ayutthaya with Annika on Sunday!
On the bus to Ayutthaya!

Sleepy boys

The ONE Wat we visited haha

Sunday night the boys stayed out in the city, and then went out of town again for the week. They were back on Thursday night (after dropping Lucas off at the airport for his flight back to Korea). Friday morning they slept while I worked, and in the afternoon we hit MBK for some quick shopping, Coyote's for Mexican food, Soi 38 for mangoes and sticky rice, and one of the sky bars for some (pricey) drinks (but a great view of the city).
Waiting for the BTS

Mangoes!  You can't eat the pit, Graham! lol

At the sky bar with my $12 glass of wine

They were a lot of fun :D
Saturday was their last day, so I took them to Koh Kret to see the pottery villages.
Getting coffee..and taking awkward pictures
The view across the river

Graham thought my snack was....odd-looking

I was really sad when they had to leave for the airport that night, but it was so nice to have spent the time with them that I did. Thanks for coming! Visit again soon, boys! :D
Saying goodbye
